Description:
This intensive 5-day course provides a comprehensive overview of carbonate reservoir description, integrating geological, petrophysical, and geophysical data to understand the complexity of carbonate systems. Carbonate reservoirs, unlike their clastic counterparts, are highly heterogeneous due to their depositional environments, diagenetic overprints, and structural features such as fractures and karst.
Participants will learn the key methods used to describe and characterize carbonate reservoirs, including core analysis, well log interpretation, thin section petrography, seismic integration, and facies modeling. The course emphasizes how reservoir quality is controlled by depositional facies, diagenesis, and fracturing, and how to integrate these observations into a coherent reservoir model.
